Covid-19 Policies/Procedures

Guest and Staff Health 

Subject to change based on new guidelines

  • Intake Screening and Assessment

    • Each group is responsible to screen those attending. Though this is not a requirement to attend, it will help assess the risk within your group.

    • Guests will need to provide their own Personal Protection Equipment and additional sanitizer (sanitizer provided in public areas, soap and water provided in all restrooms)

  • Regular Screening and Assessment

    • Please consider screening the members of your group each day you are at Panfork. We have created a daily health log to assist you in this process. Though not required, we feel it is an important step to help ensure the overall health of your group.

    • Groups are encouraged to bring their own no-touch thermometers.

  • Preventing Spread

    • It is suggested that you create Pods for each group on camp. The church can determine the size and number of pods, but housing may also play a factor. A church may be one pod or may be split into smaller groups. Pods will rotate to all areas together (eat, recreate, worship, etc).

    • Handwashing and personal hygiene will be emphasized

    • Physical Distancing between pods will be expected. Anywhere large groups gather, separation will be facilitated (lines in dining hall, tables separated, worship center seating separated)

    • New guidelines from the state DO NOT require masks to be worn. The guidelines can be viewed here.

  • Response and Management of Case(s) or Probable Case(s)

    • Camp management will work with the group leader to determine course of action.

    • Anyone with symptoms of illness, in particular Covid-19, will be isolated and sent home immediately. In the event they are a minor not attending with their family, parents will be contacted to pick them up.

    • Cleaning of the area in which the sick person slept will be done by camp staff. If possible, the group staying with that guest will be moved to a new lodging area.

    • As Panfork is not a medical facility, on-site testing will not take place. Rather we will refer anyone suspected of having Covid-19 to their local health care facility.

    • A letter will be given to all group leaders within the church for distribution to individuals to discuss possible post-camp protocols.

    • Even if there is no suspected case, for up to 14 days after a stay at Panfork an individual may want to limit their access to anyone who would be in the higher risk category(immunosuppressed, age 65 or older, etc.)

  • Sick Person Isolation Area

    • In the event isoclation is needed, camp staff will work with the group leader to determine location and duration. Additional isolation space will be provided for temporary housing of ill campers.


Staff Health

  • Staff will follow a similar plan as outlined above. Staff who operate in the food service areas or anytime they will be within six feet of campers will take additional precautions.

Facility Hygiene Plan


  • Churches partner with Panfork and as such will be the front line defense for cleanliness and hygiene in the cabins.  Groups will be housed in church in their Pods.

  • Panfork will work with the group leader for best assignments of cabins.

  • Each group will assign bunking and communicate to sleep head to toe.

Common and Shared Spaces

  • Churches will utilize their cabin as their common space.

  • Large group meeting spaces (Worship Center, Chapel, etc) will be cleaned at least once per day by Riverbend staff.

Cleaning and Sanitizing

  • A Panfork cleaning crew will be on hand each day of camp. They will clean and sanitize all public areas. Panfork staff will not enter into cabins or personal rooms unless requested by the group leader.  If Panfork comes into a space occupied by a guest, they will not be touching the camper's personal belongings. We ask that no personal items be left in the cabin restrooms.


Dining Hygiene Plan

Dining Hall 

  • The two lines in the main dining hall will continue to serve cafeteria style. 

  • Self-serve Salad/fruit bars will be removed (salads and fruit options will be available)

  • Guests will line up by their group on the Rec Court. Lines will be created so that social distancing between groups can be achieved.

  • Dining hall tables and chairs will be rearranged to support distancing between groups.

  • Approx 120 guests can dine at the same time in the dining hall.  An additional 30 guests can dine outdoors on picnic tables.

  • Trash cans will be located at various exits to minimize lines to dispose of plates.

  • Hand sanitizer stations will be in several areas in the dining hall. Soap dispensers will be in the restrooms.


  • All staff will wear masks, gloves, and hair restraints when preparing food, serving, or cleaning the dining hall.

  • Meals will be served with disposable utensils, napkins, cups, and plates.

  • Every food option for a meal will be served by staff including (plates, napkins, utensils, main entree, sides, salads, fruit, cereal, desserts, etc). Guests can elect to choose or deny some options at the lines. Beverages will be self-serve since campers do not need to touch the dispensers. Tea and coffee will be converted to touchless dispensers.

  • Additional staff will be available to quickly sanitize tables and chairs between campers if multiple meal times are needed to rotate guests into the dining hall.


  • All tables, chairs, beverage areas, serving lines, and restrooms, will be thoroughly sanitized after each meal. In addition, all high touch surfaces including door handles, vending machines, and all restroom surfaces will be sanitized.

  • Chemicals used are EPA approved for use in food service.


  • Currently, food availability and costs are fluctuating greatly due to demands. In order to help calculate and communicate predicted food quantities to vendors, we will reduce menu options. Also, by reducing menu items our staff will become more consistent and timely serving meals. Based on short notice of reduced food supply from vendors there could be a deviation from a planned menu any given day.  Panfork is committed to continuing to provide exceptional food.

Camper sponsors will be helpful to remind campers to wash/sanitize hands and practice distancing.

Program Activity Plan

General Guidelines for Recreational activities staffed by Panfork

  • Groups will be asked to rotate to recreational activities in their group.

  • Recreational activities will have specific instructions on sanitization and operation. In general:

    • Panfork will ensure all stations, equipment and supplies are sanitized

    • Sanitizer and disposable gloves will be available at recreation locations

    • Panfork will provide a water station. This will be in the form of a water fountain or an igloo. Any igloo water station will be manned by a Riverbend staff or adult volunteer with gloves to fill up guest water bottles or cups.

  • Aquatics & Water-Related

    • Panfork will provide life jackets at the waterfront. These will be sanitized after each use and left in the sunlight. Guests may provide their own life-jacket, but these must be a U.S. Coast Guard approved wearable PFD. These should not be shared with other guests. Panfork will make final approval of any guest supplied life-jacket.

Group Activities (provided by the host group)

  • These should be planned to limit close proximity of guests with those outside their group. Shared equipment will need to be sanitized between group usage.

Shared and Assigned Equipment

  • Sanitized Recreation equipment (basketballs, volleyballs, etc) will be left out in areas with sunlight.

  • Groups should use at their own risk as they will not be sanitized between groups. Groups may choose to bring their own sports equipment. Please limit the use of this equipment within your group.

Gift Shop

  • We will limit the number of guests who are in the gift shop at one time.
